The 1969 motorcycle world championship season was the 21st in the history of the FIM - motorcycle road world championship .

Twelve races were held in the classes up to 500 cm³ and up to 250 cm³, ten in the classes up to 350 cm³ and up to 50 cm³, eleven in the class up to 125 cm³ and seven races for the teams .

  • The number of rated runs was calculated with an even number of races held by halving this number and then adding one. In six races, four went into the championship ranking.
  • If an odd number of races was held, the number of runs was added by one and then halved. In seven races, four were therefore counted.
