The 1963 motorcycle world championship season was the 15th in the history of the FIM - motorcycle road world championship .

In the class up to 500 cm³ eight, in the class up to 350 cm³ seven, in the class up to 250 cm³ ten, in the class up to 125 cm³ twelve, in the class up to 50 cm³ nine and in the sidecar five races were held.

  • The number of rated runs was calculated with an even number of races held by halving this number and then adding one. In six races, four went into the championship ranking.
  • If an odd number of races was held, the number of runs was added by one and then halved. In seven races, four were therefore counted.
