The 1993 motorcycle world championship season was the 45th in the history of the FIM - motorcycle road world championship .

14 races were held in the classes up to 500 cm³, up to 250 cm³ and up to 125 cm³ and seven races for the sidecar . The season was overshadowed by the fall of the reigning 500 cm³ world champion Wayne Rainey at the Italian GP, ​​who has been paraplegic since then.

Distribution of points

The world champion will be the driver or manufacturer who has accumulated the most points in the world championship by the end of the season. When distributing points, the placements are taken into account in the overall result of the respective race. The top fifteen drivers in each race receive points according to the following scheme:
