FIM Grand Prix (motorcycle)
The Grand Prix of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme for motorcycles was a motorcycle race for the motorcycle world championship .
It took place only once, on September 26, 1993 , as a replacement for the South African Grand Prix planned for October 3 , on the Circuito del Jarama in Spain .
The Grand Prix was the last run of the season and decided, as there was no world champion in any of the three solo classes by then, the title holder. In the 125cc class, the German Dirk Raudies prevailed on a Honda , who was eighth in the championship fight against Kazuto Sakata . In the quarter liter class, the Japanese Yamaha rider Tetsuya Harada was able to catch the Italian Loris Capirossi, who had been leading in the overall standings, with his victory. In the class up to 500 cm³, the US-American Kevin Schwantz on Suzuki ranked third because his only remaining World Cup competitor Wayne Rainey had a serious accident at the Italian Grand Prix in Misano and could not start.
The Brazilian Alex Barros achieved the first Grand Prix victory of his career in the half-liter class.
