Routing at the motorcycle Grand Prix

The Indianapolis Grand Prix for Motorcycles is a motorcycle race that has been held since 2008 and has been part of the Motorcycle World Championship ever since . It takes place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway .

Race scene from 2009 : Dovizioso ( Honda ) leads ahead of Rossi and Lorenzo (both Yamaha )

The route traveled is within the famous oval course and is 4186 meters long. It is largely the same as the slope used by Formula 1 , but is used in the opposite direction.

In contrast to the US Grand Prix for motorcycles in Laguna Seca , in which only the MotoGP class started, all three solo classes will start in Indianapolis.

The first Grand Prix held in 2008 was heavily influenced by Hurricane Ike , which caused wet track conditions for almost the entire race weekend. On race Sunday, both the 125 cc and MotoGP races had to be canceled due to rain and wind, the 250 cc race fell completely victim to the poor weather conditions. In the 125cc race, the 19-year-old Spaniard Nicolás Terol celebrated the first Grand Prix victory of his career, in the MotoGP class Valentino Rossi surpassed Giacomo Agostini's record of racing victories in the premier class with his 69th victory .
