Boys in a band
Boys in a Band are a five-piece rock group from the Faroe Islands . They describe their dance music as "Cowboy Rock". It is the most successful newcomer band in 2006/07 in the Faroe Islands.
history
The group formed in September 2006 and immediately became popular. In the national elimination for the Global Battle of the Bands (GBOB) they came second. They are played regularly on Radio Útvarp Føroya . At the annual Planet Awards the newspaper sosialurin they were Best New band 2006 . At the song competition of the Atlantic Music Event 2007 they took third place with Secrets to Conceal - in competition with Eivør Pálsdóttir , who came first.
Boys in a band played at various concerts in the Faroe Islands. In July 2007 they performed at the Roskilde Festival , other appearances are the G! Festival in July and the Iceland Airwaves in October.
They described their music as a mixture of Bob Dylan , Jimi Hendrix and Franz Ferdinand ; Genuine British indie rock with traditional American folk / blues roots. They add: "That, together with the band's strict dress code, is the recipe for cowboy rock, a genre that so far has only been mastered by boys in a band."
Boys in a Band released an album called Black Diamond Train in 2008.
At the Global Battle of the Bands 2007, the Faroese were winners. They are the first Faroese band in history to win a global competition.
