Motorcycle world championship
125 cc / Moto3 class
In the 2011 season , Jack Miller made his debut in the motorcycle world championship on Aprilia . He had five more missions in the same year on Honda . He played his first full season in 2012 with the Caretta Technology team . At the end of the season he finished 23rd overall with 17 points. For the 2013 season moved into the Miller Racing Team Germany by Dirk Heidolf . There he drove an FTR Honda and at the end of the season finished seventh overall with 110 points. Aki Ajo then brought him to his team for 2014 . On a KTM , Miller kept the outcome of the championship open until the last race. He eventually became runner-up in the Moto3 category, two points behind his Spanish rival Álex Márquez .
MotoGP class
For the 2015 season , Jack Miller had offers from teams in both the Moto2 and MotoGP classes. He decided to switch to Lucio Cecchinello's CWM-LCR-Honda team . There he drove a Honda RC213V-RS . With 17 points he finished his first season in the premier class in 19th place overall. His best position of the season was an eleventh place in Catalonia .
In 2016 Miller switched to the Marc VDS Racing Team and became a team mate of Esteve Rabat . In Catalonia , he exceeded his result from the previous year with tenth place. However, he achieved his best performance in the next race, the Dutch TT . In heavy rain, Miller won the race just ahead of Marc Márquez . This made him the first rider since Toni Elias in 2006 to win a race on a non -factory-supported motorcycle. He finished the season in eighteenth place after he had to skip five races due to injuries, but was able to win the team-internal duel against Rabat.
The season 2017 ended Miller in eleventh place, its hitherto best finishing position in this class.
For season 2018 left Miller Honda and joined the Pramac Racing team on a Ducati . In contrast to his teammate Danilo Petrucci , however, he only drove one model from last year. Nevertheless, Miller achieved two fourth places in the first six races as well as his first pole position in the premier class. He finished the season in 13th place and lost to Petrucci with 91 to 144 points.
In 2019 , after Petrucci's move to the Ducati factory team, Miller was allowed to sit on a current motorcycle for the first time. His new team mate was the reigning Moto2 world champion Francesco Bagnaia . After the Australian did not finish in second place in the first race due to a broken seat, he achieved five third places over the course of the season and finished the season eighth in the World Championship.
In 2020 Miller started the season with fourth place at the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez . He crashed at the Andalusian Grand Prix on the same route while finishing ninth in the Czech Republic . At the Austrian Grand Prix , after leading the majority of the race, the Australian finished third on the podium. At the Styrian Grand Prix , Miller dueled Pol Espargaró wheel to wheel for victory. The Australian was in the lead at the start of the last sector, but the Spaniard overtook him on the third from last corner. Miller immediately tried a counterattack and was next to him on the last corner. The two touched and lost valuable time, allowing Miguel Oliveira to overtake both and win the race while Miller finished second.
Miller will join the Ducati factory team in 2021 .
