Career

Noboru Ueda made his debut on Honda in 1991 at his home Grand Prix in Suzuka in the 125 cc class of the motorcycle world championship and was able to win the race straight away. This victory was also the first Japanese success in the 125cc class since 1967 . A third place and another victory followed in the two subsequent races in Australia and Spain . After that, the Japanese mostly only achieved placements in the top ten and finished the season in fifth place overall.

After finishing nine and five in the World Championship in 1992 and 1993 , Ueda was 125 cc vice world champion on a Honda from the Givi Racing team in the 1994 season behind fellow countryman Kazuto Sakata . In the final standings, Ueda was only 30 points behind Sakata.

After falling to twelfth place in the World Championship in the following year and seventh place in 1996 , Noboru Ueda had to admit defeat in the 1997 season with four race wins only to the outstanding Italian Valentino Rossi and won his second runner-up world title. In the following season , a broken arm prevented a good finish, Ueda was only thirteenth in the World Cup.

Noboru Ueda continued his World Cup career until 2002 , but had only two wins by then and was unable to build on his most successful years with his World Cup placements.

In his 160 starts in the motorcycle world championship, Noburu Ueda achieved 13 wins, 39 podium places, 19 pole positions and eleven fastest race laps .
