Jean-Michel Bayle (born April 1, 1969 in Manosque , Alpes-de-Haute-Provence , France ) is a French motorcycle racer .

Career

He started his career with first races in 1981 on motocross machines. Within a few years he won some of the biggest titles in the sport, including two world championships , as well as the much acclaimed US motocross series of the AMA in the two major classes within one year.

Looking for new challenges, he switched to the Motorcycle Road World Championship from 1993 to 1999 , where he spent three years in the 250 cm³ class for Aprilia and then in the 500 cm³ World Championship for Yamaha and Kenny Roberts sr. 'Team Modenas drove. His greatest successes were two pole positions and ninth place in the World Cup in 1996 .

In 2002 and 2003, he won two of the most important endurance races for motorcycles, the Bol d'Or and the 24 Hours of Le Mans .

In 2006 Bayle joined the French Touring Car Series Touring Cup on Opel to. Here, too, now on four wheels, he was able to achieve pole positions and victories and clinched the title in his first season.
