Endurance racing
Long-distance races are endurance competitions in which the greatest possible distance or a specified particularly long distance must be covered in the shortest possible time within a specified period of several hours. They are held with automobiles , motorcycles or karts .
Long-distance races are contested with several drivers who take turns at the wheel. The driver change usually takes place at the pit stop .
Particularly demanding and prestigious endurance races are 24-hour races such as the 24-hour race at Le Mans or the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring .
