The 1982 motorcycle world championship season was the 34th in the history of the FIM - motorcycle road world championship .
Twelve races were held in the classes up to 500 cm³, up to 250 cm³ and up to 125 cm³, in the class up to 350 cm³ and in the sidecars nine and in the class up to 50 cm³ six.
