Information network of the federal administration

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Information Network of the Federal Administration ( IVBV ) was one of the federal government networks for networking the nationwide administration .

The information network of the federal administration was established in 2004 to complement the information network Berlin-Bonn (IVBB). It enabled the departments of the German authorities to have quick and secure access to central IT specialist processes.

The IVBV was operated by the German Weather Service on behalf of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, supported by secunet and Verizon . After the revelations by former NSA employee Edward Snowden , the collaboration with Verizon was terminated without specifying any specific causes and instead a contract with T-Systems was agreed.

As part of the consolidation of the networks used nationwide, the IVBV was integrated into the IVBB in the course of 2017.
