Martin Wimmer (born October 11, 1957 in Munich ) is a former German motorcycle racer .

In 1978 Martin Wimmer won the newly introduced Yamaha XS 400 Cup . Between 1980 and 1991 he took part in the motorcycle world championship and started mainly in the 250 cm³ class on a Yamaha . Wimmer was able to achieve a total of three Grand Prix victories. His sporting most successful year was 1985 , in which he won the German Grand Prix and took two second places ( Spanish Grand Prix and Dutch TT ). His best placement in the world championship was fourth overall in 1982 and 1985 . In addition, Wimmer was German champion four times on Yamaha , three times in the 250 cc class and once in the 350 cc.

In 1987 Martin Wimmer won the 8-hour race in Suzuka on a Yamaha together with the Australian Kevin Magee .

His daughter Miriam Wimmer is a television presenter.

With effect from March 23, 2009 he bought the motorcycle manufacturer MZ from the Malaysian group Hong Leong Industries together with his wife Martina Häger and Ralf Waldmann and was then the company's managing director. On September 8, 2012, Wimmer filed for insolvency for the Zschopau engine works at the Chemnitz District Court.
