Roland Busch

Roland Busch (born November 22, 1964 in Erlangen ) is a German physicist and Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer at Siemens AG.

education

Busch studied physics at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg and the University of Grenoble until 1989 . In July 1993 he received his doctorate from the Friedrich-Alexander University.

Professional background

Busch began his professional career at Siemens AG in 1994 as a project manager in the central research and development department in Erlangen. A year later, he moved to the area of automotive technology and strategic planning in Regensburg , where he worked as a specialist in fuel cell technologies and, from 1997, as assistant to the executive board. In 1998 Busch worked in process and information management in the management of quality and internal consulting.

In 2001 he was in charge of strategy and consulting and in 2002 became head of the Infotainment Solutions division . From 2005, Busch was President and CEO of Siemens VDO Automotive Asia Pacific Co. Ltd. Employed in Shanghai . In 2007 he became head of the Mass Transit division in the Transportation Systems division in Erlangen. A year later, Busch took over the management of the Corporate Strategies division in Munich .

Busch has been a member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG since 2011. He became Chief Technology Officer in December 2016 and Chief Operating Officer in October 2018.

Busch was appointed as the successor to CEO Joe Kaeser on March 19, 2020 .
