Leon Haslam
Leon Haslam (born May 31, 1983 in Smalley , Derbyshire , England ) is a British motorcycle racer .
He is the son of Ron Haslam , who was a motorcycle racer himself and was, among other things, Formula TT world champion twice in his career and was able to win the Isle of Man TT once .
Career
Leon Haslam has been competing in the Superbike World Championship permanently since 2009 . At first he joined the team Stiggy Racing Honda on, in 2010 , he started for the Suzuki - works team Team Suzuki Alstare and was with three wins and a total of 14 podium finishes runner-up behind Max Biaggi .
For the 2011 season Haslam switched to the BMW factory team, where he competed alongside two-time world champion Troy Corser .
In the 2013 season, Haslam changed to "Team Pata Honda".
In 2013 and 2014, Haslam won the prestigious Suzuka 8-hour race on a Honda together with the Japanese Takumi Takahashi and Michael van der Mark from the Netherlands .
After a disappointing 2014 season with "Team Pata Honda" with injuries and average results, Haslam signed with Aprilia. For the 2015 season he moved to Aprilia Racing Team - Red Devils , together with his Spanish teammate Jordi Torres . At the end of the season Aprilia withdrew the works team from the Superbike World Championship, due to tough negotiations between Aprilia and possible team partners, Haslem could not be offered a new contract.
He then signed with JG Speedfit Kawasaki and from 2016 rode again in the British Superbike Championship. Here he was able to become runner-up right away. In 2017 Haslam started the last race of the season as the overall leader, but crashed on lap 8 and finished the championship in third place. In the 2018 season, Haslam won the British Superbike Championship with 15 victories.
In 2019 , Haslam drove a full season in the Superbike World Championship for the first time since 2015. He started for the Kawasaki factory team at the side of the record world champion Jonathan Rea and finished with six third places as seventh in the World Championship.
In the 2020 season he will compete in the Superbike World Championship for Honda alongside Álvaro Bautista .
