Alexander Frangenheim

Alexander Frangenheim (* 1959 in Wuppertal ) is a German double bass player .

Frangenheim first studied sculpture at the Stuttgart Art Academy and classical double bass with Reinald Schwarz . His main focus is free improvisation and new improvisation music . He co-founded the production center for dance and performance in Stuttgart and from 1992 to 2003 organized the concepts of doing festival - interaction between dance and music . Among other things, he played in performances with the painter KRH Sonderborg and the dancers Julyen Hamilton , Fine Kwiatkowski and Benoît Lachambre . From 1997 to 2003 Frangenheim was a member of the Berliner Ensemble Zeitkratzer .

Since 1988 he has been working with musicians from the improvisation scene such as John Butcher , Thomas Lehn , Paul Lovens , Phil Minton , David Moss , Roger Turner , Günter Christmann , Axel Dörner , Chris Burn , Jim Denley , Steve Noble , Phil Minton , Michael Griener , Evan Parker , Dorothea Schürch , Herb Robertson , Charlotte Hug , Ute Wassermann , Urs Leimgruber and the Neue Dresdner Kammermusik together.

Frangenheim has lived in Berlin since 2005 .
