Thomas Lehn (born May 21, 1958 in Fröndenberg / Ruhr ) studied sound engineer at the Detmold University of Music and from 1980 to 1987 classical and jazz piano at the Cologne University of Music .

As an interpreter of classical, contemporary and improvised music, he developed his own language in electronic music. He plays analog synthesizers , mini- Moog synthesizers and piano , using almost exclusively analog synthesizers from the late 1960s in a virtuoso manner for improvisations . In the 1980s he worked on the piano in ensembles led by Gunter Hampel , George Russell and Keith Tippett . Today he is a pianist member of various ensembles for new music and has been involved in performances by Maria de Alvear and Manos Tsangaris .

As a synthesizer player he worked a. a. together with the Multiple Joy (ce) Orchestra , Hannes Bauer , Martin Blume , John Butcher , Günter Christmann , Alexander Frangenheim , Wolfgang Fuchs , Mats Gustafsson , Gerry Hemingway , Erhard Hirt , Paul Lovens , Paul Lytton , Evan Parker , Radu Malfatti , Torsten Müller , Carl Ludwig Hübsch , Jon Rose , Keith Rowe , John Russell , Hans Schneider , Burkhard Stangl and Martin Theurer . With Tim Hodgkinson and Roger Turner , he has formed the Konk Pack group for more than ten years ; he is toot with Axel Dörner and Phil Minton .

Thomas Lehn has lived in Cologne since 1980 .
