Hans Schneider (bassist)

Hans Schneider (* 1951 in Leverkusen ) is a German bass player who is active in the field of jazz and improvisation music.

Since 1964 Schneider played in beat bands, then in rock and jazz groups. Since 1974 he has belonged to the quintet of Georg Graewe , with whom he later also appeared in the pit sound orchestra . Since 1979 he has also belonged to Erhard Hirt's group and was one of the founding members of the King Übü Orchestrü with Wolfgang Fuchs . In the mid-1980s he also appeared in a quartet with Evan Parker , Paul Lytton and Paul Rutherford (CD Waterloo 1985 ).

In 1982 Schneider organized the first “International Days for Improvised Music” in Leverkusen. He has been playing with Stefan Keune for a long time , since 1991 in a trio, initially with Paul Lytton , and currently with Achim Krämer in a trio. He is currently working with Dorothea Schürch and Paul Lytton and in a “Chamber Trio” with Melvyn Poore and Frank Gratkowski . He belongs to the Ensemble Realtime and to the quartet of the flautist Angelika Sheridan . He has also performed with Mark Charig , Floros Floridis , Maggie Nichols , Peter Kowald , John Tchicai , Alexander von Schlippenbach , Phil Minton , Achim Krämer , Sven-Åke Johansson and Peter Brötzmann .
