Martin Blume (* 1956 in Arnsberg ) is a German drummer and composer.

Career

Blume, who has lived in Bochum since 1976, has been a professional musician in the fields of jazz, improvisational music and new music since 1983 . He worked with Peter Brötzmann , Lol Coxhill , Earl Howard , Peter Kowald , Werner Lüdi , Jay Oliver , Dorothea Schürch , Melvyn Poore and Richard Teitelbaum , among others .

Since 1988 he has been realizing his own projects, with which he has performed and recorded albums in many European countries, the USA, Canada and Australia. These include duo formations with Phil Wachsmann and Xu Fengxia , a trio with Johannes Bauer and Sebi Tramontana and the groups FOURinONE (with Johannes Bauer, Luc Houtkamp and Dieter Manderscheid ), Lines (with Axel Dörner , Phil Wachsmann, Jim Denley and Marcio Mattos ), Axon (with Phil Minton , Fred Van Hove and Marcio Mattos), Caetitu (with Yedo Gibson , Veryan Weston and Marcio Mattos), Speak easy (with Phil Minton, Ute Wassermann and Thomas Lehn ) and Shift (with Frank Gratkowski , Thomas Lehn, Philipp Zoubek and Dieter Manderscheid).

In addition, Blume is involved as an organizer of concert series and festivals of contemporary improvisation music in the Ruhr area, such as the Ruhr Jazz Festival and Open Systems .
