The Aprilia RSV4 is a super sports / superbike motorcycle from the Italian manufacturer Aprilia . Two model variants are currently available: The RSV4 RR and the RSV4 RF (previously RSV4 Factory ). The motorcycle was specially developed for participation in the Superbike World Championship ; only the necessary changes were made for the necessary homologation as an eligible motorcycle.
Technical specifications
drive
The bike for the first time in the history of Aprilia a V4 engine with 65 ° cylinder bank angle and 999.63 cc displacement driven. The bore is 78 mm, the stroke 52.3 mm. The four valves per cylinder are controlled by two overhead camshafts ( DOHC ) per cylinder bank, which are driven by timing chains and spur gears. The Factory version also has variable intake funnels in the airbox , which optimize the power and torque output. Initially, the engine had an output of 132 kW (180 PS), for the 2015 model year the engine was extensively revised (including cylinder head, camshafts , titanium valves, increased compression , optimized oil and cooling circuit), and output rose to a nominal 148 kW (201 PS) at 13,000 / min. The variable intake funnels are now standard on all model variants. The weight of the engine has been reduced by 1.6 kg. The power is transmitted via a sequential 6-speed manual transmission , which is designed as a cassette transmission ; this means that it can be completely removed from the motor after removing the housing cover and serviced accordingly easily.
landing gear
The bridge frame and the two-arm swing arm are made of an aluminum alloy; The steering head angle and the height of the motor including the pivot point of the swing arm are adjustable. The upside-down telescopic fork with 43 mm dip tubes and the rear suspension strut can be adjusted in preload, rebound and compression; they come from the suppliers Sachs (RR) and Öhlins (Factory / RF). The wheels, measuring 3.50 × 17 inches at the front and 6.00 × 17 inches at the rear, are made of cast light metal or forged light metal (Factory / RF).
electronics
In comparison with the competition, the Aprilia RSV4 has highly developed driver assistance electronics called APRC . It includes racing -grade ABS , multi-level traction control , wheelie control to avoid the front wheel rising when accelerating, launch control to optimize race starts and a quick shift system for faster gear changes. The motor is controlled via a ride-by-wire system without direct mechanical transmission of the movement of the throttle grip by the driver.
