The Aprilia RSV 1000 R is a super sports car designed motorcycle of the Italian manufacturer Aprilia .
The RSV 1000 R succeeded the RSV Mille in 2004 with extensive modifications to the engine and appearance. In addition, the standard version of the motorcycle was offered as the R model and the top model Factory with numerous parts made of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic and high-quality Öhlins suspension elements.
Technical specifications
drive
Drive of the RSV 1000 R is one of Rotax constructed Two cylinder - V-type engine with magnesium case and a cylinder angle of 60 degrees. Each cylinder has two camshafts, which are driven by two oil pressure-tensioned timing chains and each actuate two intake and two exhaust valves via bucket tappets. The valve clearances are set using magnetic shims. The mixture prepares an electronic fuel injection. The engine also has an improved ram air system based on the model of the Honda SP1 with a large intake duct in the middle of the front fairing
Due to the trend towards ever higher top performance, Aprilia decided in 2009 to introduce the RSV4 with four instead of two cylinders. This makes the RSV 1000 R the last Aprilia super sports machine with a V2 engine. For the 2006 facelift, the engine's output was increased to 143 hp at 10,000 rpm, thanks to larger exhaust valves, among other things.
landing gear
The chassis of the two models R and Factory is very different. The top model Factory is equipped with suspension components from the renowned manufacturer Öhlins , from the fork to the shock absorber to the steering damper . The buyers of the cheaper R model, on the other hand, only got spring elements from the manufacturer Showa for the front and Sachs for the rear. Since the spring elements of the standard R model turned out to be too soft under extreme loads, spring elements from Öhlins were also used for the R model from the 2006 facelift.
Power transmission
The power is separated with a multi-plate wet clutch and the torque is converted by a six-speed gearbox. The secondary drive works with a chain .
Competitive models with comparable engine characteristics were the VTR 1000 SP1 and VTR 1000 SP2 and the Ducati 999 . The RSV 1000 R was still superior to the Ducati 999 in many categories, for example in pulling through, but the successor model 1098 outperformed the RSV 1000 R, as it was on a newer technical level.
