The Aprilia RSV Mille was the first 1000 cm³ super sports car from the manufacturer from Noale . The motor with dry sump lubrication comes from Rotax in Austria.
The driving dynamics, handling, engine reliability and the fact that high mileage could be achieved with regular maintenance received particular praise. The processing quality could be described as very high quality. However, there were serious problems with the supply of spare parts, especially after the takeover by Piaggio .
From 2000 Aprilia offered an R version with a ready-to-drive weight of 211 kg, forged wheels from OZ, carbon parts and an Öhlins chassis for an extra charge (approx. 3500 euros).
In 2000, the Australian Troy Corser landed on the RSV1000 Mille with five wins and 310 points on the podium and made 3rd place in the Superbike World Championship. The Australian managed to secure the very first Aprilia triumph from pole position in race two at Phillip Island in 2000.
