The 2003 Superbike World Championship season was the 16th in the history of the FIM - Superbike World Championship . 24 races were held at twelve events.
Distribution of points
The world champion will be the driver or manufacturer who has accumulated the most points in the world championship by the end of the season. When distributing points, the placements are taken into account in the overall result of the respective race. The top fifteen drivers in each race receive points according to the following scheme:

- The Ducati factory drivers Neil Hodgson and Rubén Xaus dominated the season with the completely new Ducati 999 , they won 20 of the 24 races held. After the season, both switched to the MotoGP class of the motorcycle world championship , where they also competed in Ducati for Team D'Antin MotoGP .
- The Italian manufacturer Ducati was able to win all races with five different drivers. In the overall standings, the Spaniard Gregorio Lavilla was the only non-Ducati rider in the top ten.
- The Briton Shane Byrne caused a sensation, winning both races as a wildcard driver at the event at Brands Hatch .
