Career

Rutter's father Tony was already a successful motorcyclist in road races and ran a racing school. As a teenager, Michel Rutter took part in competitions for young talent. In 1993 he drove for the first time in both the British Superbike Championship (BSB) and the Superbike World Championship . In his career he has so far recorded 28 national victories in the BSB, in which he still participates today, and three in the World Cup. Rutter also took part in 1999 with moderate success in the 500 cc class of the motorcycle world championship .

Michael Rutter received national attention as a successful driver in road races. At the Macau Grand Prix , with eight first places, no one was able to win as often in the motorcycle category as he. Rutter won the Isle of Man TT both with conventional motorcycles and in the TT Zero, which has been held since 2009, with electric motorcycles . In 2013, he was the first pilot on an electric motorcycle to achieve the symbolic average of 100  mph (160.93  km / h ) on the almost 37.71  mi (60.69  km ) long Snaefell Mountain Course .

Rutter started his career on Honda . In the meantime he always competed in races on Yamaha and Ducati . In 2015 he competed for BMW before moving to the Paton SC project , which relies on Kawasaki.

At the Macau GP 2019, he was subsequently declared the winner by the race management in front of his teammate Peter Hickman , who overtook him a few moments before the race was stopped, triggered by a mass fall. In total, he won there nine times.
