Tony Rutter
Tony Rutter (born September 24, 1941 in the West Midlands , † March 24, 2020 ) was a British motorcycle racer .
Career
Tony Rutter was said to be he could win anywhere on anything . In his long career he achieved successes in the most diverse racing classes from the 250 cc to the superbikes on various brands. He had successes in road races with several titles. In the motorcycle world championship Rutter achieved several podium places. He was able to clinch four world championship titles on Ducati in the Formula TT , which is no longer held today . During the run for this class in 1985 he had a serious accident at the Circuit de Montjuïc in Spain . After this accident, which almost cost him his life, Rutter had to give up his career for health reasons.
Rutter's son Michael also became a very successful motorcycle racer.
Tony Rutter died on March 24, 2020 after a serious illness at the age of 78.
