Bill Smith (racing driver)

Bill Smith (born February 8, 1935 ) is a retired British motorcycle racer .

Career

In 1959, Bill Smith founded his company, Bill Smith Motors . In 1963 he took part for the first time in the motorcycle world championship in the classes up to 250 and 500  cm³ . In 1968 he won the 350cc race at the North West 200 . In 1978 he was TT-F3 World Champion on a Honda and in 1979 Formula TT-F3 Vice World Champion also on a Honda. In 1981 he finished fifth in Formula TT-F3. He drove his last race in 1976.

Bill Smith drove 14 races in the motorcycle world championship and took 4 third places in the Isle of Man TT and five races in Formula TT with one win, a second and a third place. At the Isle of Man TT he achieved a total of four victories .
