MotoCzysz (pronounced Moto sis ) is an American manufacturer of motorcycles based in Portland in the state of Oregon .

Background and history

The company's founder Michael Czysz (pronounced sis) stood out in the USA as a star architect who, in addition to hotels and nightclubs in Las Vegas, designed houses for Lenny Kravitz and Cindy Crawford, among others . Csysz family up to the grandparents has always been closely connected to motorcycling . He has ridden motorcycles himself since his youth and took part in racing events. At the age of about 40, he visited the Art of the Motorcycle exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum in Las Vegas and was fascinated by the Britten V 1000 - the last motorcycle that a private citizen, New Zealander John Britten , bought for use in the motorcycle industry. World Championship was built between 1991 and 1998. Czysz decided to compete in the MotoGP class with his own design .

Company history

Czysz founded the company in Portland, Oregon in 2003. He engaged planners, designers and engineers and also designed components himself for a conventional racing motorcycle with a combustion engine called the C1 . 15 patents were found in the draft. Some, such as the fork, are also used in the current models. The Czysz patent is based on a modified oval telescopic fork with plain bearings . The engine had a displacement of 990 cm³ and the company wanted to start in the 2008 season. In 2007 the FIM changed the regulations in the MotoGP class: engines up to 1000 cm³ were no longer permitted. The company was on the brink of collapse almost overnight. Instead, Czysz decided to build an electric motorcycle in December 2008 in order to compete in this class, which was represented at the Isle of Man TT for the first time in 2009 . The decision led to the development of the E1pc . First, motors from the Indian company Agni and notebook batteries were installed. Failures again led to the development of our own components. The brushless DC motor , which currently delivers 150 kW at 8000 rpm, was the breakthrough. In 2013, the symbolic mark of 100  mph (160.93  km / h ) average speed was exceeded at the Tourist Trophy for the first time. The electrical charge of the current models is said to have " 10 times the battery capacity of a Toyota Prius " (German " 10 times the capacity of a Toyota Prius "). The company is considered a pioneer and market leader in the electric motorcycle segment. The company's founder died of cancer on May 7, 2016 at the age of 52. How the company will continue is (as of May 2016) still unclear.
