Mallory Park Race of the Year
The Race of the Year is a motorcycle race that has been taking place intermittently since 1958 in Mallory Park in Leicester , England .
Riders from the Motorcycle , Superbike and Supersport World Championships and the British Superbike Championship take part.
The first race was won by John Surtees on MV Agusta . The 2011 race was won by Sam Lowes on a 600cc Honda after a tough battle with CRT MotoGP rider James Ellison , also on a Honda. In 2014 another race took place, which John Ingram was able to win on a Kawasaki.
In 2015 the race was canceled by the organizers. It was not clear for a long time whether the traditional event would be continued. After a two-year break, the race was held again on October 22, 2017 as the 50th anniversary. The races are run by the East Midland Racing Association as part of their EMRA racing series . The race was held for two years before it was canceled again shortly before the date in 2019. The future of the event is again uncertain.
