Andreas "Andy" Hofmann (born December 5, 1955 in Biel ) is a former Swiss motorcycle racer .

In 1985, Hofmann became the first German champion in the superbike class on a Kawasaki GPZ 1000 RX prepared by Rolf Jung from Cologne . In 1989 and 1990 he won Superbike titles number two and three on a Honda RC30 belonging to the Eckert team. To this day he is the only Swiss who has been German motorcycle champion three times. In 1992 and 1993 Hofmann competed for Kawasaki in the then Pro-Superbike series and was almost runner-up behind his compatriot Edwin Weibel ( Ducati ).

Andreas Hofmann took part in the Formula TT between 1987 and 1989 . In 1987 and 1988 he finished second behind Roger Burnett and Carl Fogarty in the Dutch TT race in Assen in the Netherlands on a Honda .

With less success Hofmann took part in the Superbike World Championship , in which he reached fifth place on Honda at the Hockenheimring in 1990 and finished the season in 23rd place overall. The following year he did not score any points. In 1992 and 1993  - this time on a Kawasaki again - Hofmann reached 19th place overall in the Superbike World Championship. His greatest international success was winning the 1997 Macau Grand Prix .

Even before the end of his active racing career in 2003, he founded a company for personnel services ( Seeland Job AG ) in his home country . Hofmann - called Andy by the fans - always wore a black helmet with white dots during races, which became his trademark. Occasionally Hofmann still takes part in veteran races as a guest.
