The 2000 Superbike World Championship season was the 13th in the history of the FIM - Superbike World Championship . 26 races were held at 13 events.
Distribution of points
The world champion will be the driver or manufacturer who has accumulated the most points in the world championship by the end of the season. When distributing points, the placements are taken into account in the overall result of the respective race. The top fifteen drivers in each race receive points according to the following scheme:

- In South Africa, the winner of the second run, Noriyuki Haga , was disqualified because of a positive doping test . Troy Corser became third . Haga's protest against this decision, which ran throughout the season, was unsuccessful. In addition, he was not allowed to start at the last event of the season at Brands Hatch.
- The event at Brands Hatch replaced the runs originally planned in Imola .
- In Australia, the four-time world champion Carl Fogarty had a bad accident in a collision while lapping and suffered a shoulder injury that subsequently forced him to retire. The Australian Troy Bayliss took his place in the Ducati factory team .
