The Motorsport Arena Oschersleben is a motorsport facility in Oschersleben (Bode) near Magdeburg .

The facility was inaugurated on July 25, 1997 after 13 months of construction as Motopark Oschersleben . It was the third permanent test and race track in Germany, after the Nürburgring and Hockenheimring . Since then, the Eurospeedway and, after renovation work, the Sachsenring have been added.

Route description

The longest version of the winding racetrack for motor racing is 3.696 km long, the motorcycle version is 3.667 km long. A shortened route variant with a route length of 2.435 km can be realized via a short connection behind the Hasseröder curve. However, this is only actively used by a few events (e.g. eco-GP). Furthermore, a 1018 m long go- kart track and an off-road area since 2003 are attached to the race track. Supermoto races are also held on the kart track .

The facility has an almost freely accessible paddock. Events outside of motorsport, such as Open-air concerts, for example, are possible on this multifunctional sports facility, on which the Hotel Motorsport Arena Oschersleben , which belongs to the facility, is available to all visitors with 100 rooms, a restaurant with a view of the race track and a fitness area.

Automobile racing events

On the automotive side, the current highlights of the season include the ADAC Masters Weekend and the DTM . For motorbikes, the Superbike World Championship and the German Speedweek are worth mentioning as a national series of events. The kart track is the venue for the ADAC Kart Masters and the Supermoto IDM.

In the first few years, one of the highlights was the DMSB production car championship , which was held until 2016 and normally held the first and last race of each year in the Magdeburg Börde .

In 2001 and 2002, a valuation run for the Ice Race Series International (IRSI) (a series of ice races with FIA rating) was to be held, which, however, were canceled due to too mild weather conditions.

The LG Super Racing Weekend (SRW) hosted the FIA GT Championship and the previous European Touring Car Championship in the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben until 2005 . Even after the end of the racing weekend broadcast by Eurosport , the FIA-GT and the 2005 World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) continued to drive on the racetrack. With the division of the FIA-GT into a world championship and a European championship , the GT1 world championship no longer drove in the Motorsport Arena. The initially planned run of the GT2 and GT3 European Championship was canceled in March 2010 after the planned GT2 series did not take place.

The ADAC Dacia Logan Cup has been held in Oschersleben since 2006, and now has eight events per season (as of 2017). The ADAC Chevrolet Cup has also started here since 2010 , back then as the ADAC Cruze Cup .

Between 2007 and 2019, the ADAC GT Masters held a total of 15 meetings in the Motorsport Arena, with the season opening taking place on the track 12 times and the finals being held twice (2009 and 2010) in a second season meeting.

Since 2004, 4 automobile 24-hour races have been held in Oschersleben. While the 2004 and 2006 editions were organized by a Dutch group of organizers (Dutch National Racing Team - DNRT) and were mainly geared towards touring cars, the new edition in 2018 and the 4th edition in 2019 took place as part of the eco-GP series, with only street legal Electric cars were allowed to start. The 24h of Oschersleben represented the world's longest circuit race for electric cars in these two years.

Other events

In April 2000 the Opel meeting of the Opelsportclub Wernigerode took place for the first time in the motorsport arena. The popularity of the meeting increased from year to year. The initial 11,000 vehicles grew to 19,900 vehicles in 2010, and 67,400 Opel fans found their way to the Börde.

With the 24h Velofondo event, a 24h bike racing event has been held on the course since 2017.

Trivia

Some scenes from the 3rd part of the series Pfarrer Braun with Ottfried Fischer were shot in the motorsport arena.
