The race track Auf den Seelower Heights was initially built as a motocross race track , later rebuilt and has been an autocross race track since 1976 . It is located in the center of Seelow and is operated by the Seelow Motorsport Club .
The circuit was laid out in 1961 and opened in 1963. The annual motocross championships of the General German Motorsport Association (ADMV) were held on the track until 1975 . In 1975 a working group of the ADMV worked out the previously nonexistent competition guidelines and regulations for autocross, and from 1976 the motorsport discipline autocross was officially introduced in the GDR . In the course of this, the race track Auf den Seelower Heights was converted for autocross races. Since 1976, various international races and championships, runs for the GDR best determination as well as the trophy run for peace and friendship of the socialist countries or, for example, races of the Danish Cross Kart Championship have taken place on the track. Later and up to the present day, the Autocross European Championship, the FIA Autocross European Championship (Specialcross and Touring Cars), the German Autocross Championship and the Autocross State Championship Brandenburg are held on the track. Since 1991 the completely piped and irrigable track has had the FIA European Championship title.
