The Frohburger Dreieck is a racing track for road races in Saxony .

The route is a 4.8 km long triangular course for motorsport and lies between Leipzig and Chemnitz . The first race took place in 1960. Up until 1972, top drivers from “capitalist foreign countries” also started, for example Bob Coulter from Ireland, the Australian driver Eric Hinton , Kent Andersson from Sweden and the New Zealand racing driver Ginger Molloy . In addition, drivers from Switzerland, Finland, Austria and the Netherlands started. There were both car and motorcycle races .

However , the Frohburg route never became famous for the Sachsenring . From 1973 only starters from the socialist states of Eastern Europe and Cuba were allowed. Until 1990, points were awarded for the GDR championship and for the Cup for Peace and Friendship. After the reunification of Germany, West German drivers were again eligible to participate. The Frohburger Club succeeded in its biggest surprise when Joey Dunlop, one of the most successful motorcycle racers, registered for the Frohburger Dreieckrennen in 1995 . In 2014 Michael Dunlop , Joey Dunlop's nephew , signed up for the race.
