Michael Dunlop

Michael Dunlop (born April 10, 1989 in Northern Ireland ) is a British motorcycle racer who competes almost exclusively in road races .
Dunlop comes from a racing family. His father Robert (1960–2008) and his uncle Joey (1952–2000) were successful motorcycle racers and were among the best pilots in the history of British road racing. His brother William (1985-2018) was also a motorcycle racer.
Career
Michael Dunlop made his debut in the Isle of Man TT , the largest and most prestigious road race in the world, in 2007 at the age of 18. In 2008 he won the 250 cc race of this event in his Northern Irish homeland, one day after his father's fatal accident at the North West 200 on a Honda . In 2009 Michael Dunlop took his first win on the Isle of Man in a Yamaha R6 in the second junior race .
In 2010, Dunlop achieved three podium places at the TT. In 2011 he won his second TT in the Superstock class on a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R from the Street Sweep team . In the following year, victory number three followed in the second Supersport race on the Isle of Man.
In 2013 and 2014 Michael Dunlop won four TT races each. In the Superbike race on May 31, 2014, he achieved the first TT victory for BMW in 75 years on a BMW S 1000 RR . At the finish, after six laps on the Snaefell Mountain Course, he had a 20.5 second lead over second-placed Guy Martin ( Suzuki ). The last winner before Dunlop for BMW was “Schorsch” Meier in 1939 in a BMW 255 Kompressor .
In 2016, Michael Dunlop on a BMW S 1000 RR was the first rider in history to break the 17-minute barrier on the Mountain Course in the Superbike TT race and set a speed of 16: 58.254 min and an average speed of 133.393 mph (214.675 km / h ) new lap record. A few days later he improved this record in the Senior TT to 16: 53.929 min with an average speed of 133.962 mph (215.591 km / h).
