The Chemnitz Autobahn Shear was a motorcycle and car racing track in the area of the Chemnitz Autobahn triangle ( A4 / A72 ) in 1952 and 1953 .

The Chemnitz motorway triangle had been used by motorsport enthusiasts for test purposes since 1949. Finally, in 1952, the Chemnitz motorsport section "Motor IFA " expanded it into a race track, and on September 28, 1952, the races for ID drivers and young drivers from the GDR started .

For 1953 the route was shortened to 5 km. The races on May 3, 1953 this time included the GDR championship races for motorcycles in the 125 cc, 500 cc and 750 cc sidecar classes. In addition, racing cars in the 1100 cm³, 1500 cm³ and Formula 2 cars with 2000 cm³ started. 70,000 visitors came to the races, which was probably not enough for the organizers, because after that there were never any more races on the Chemnitz autobahn.

The last motorsport event on the Autobahn scissors was a training session for series motorcycles, ID drivers and licensed drivers in the Karl-Marx-Stadt district on April 11, 1970.
