The Siegerlandring was a temporary motorsport race track on the grounds of Siegerland Airport in Burbach near Siegen .

Route

The course was 3,346 km long and was driven clockwise . After a short start / finish straight, the west curve was first entered on the right. On the back straight, two right-left chicanes had to be passed before two 90 ° right-hand bends returned to the start / finish straight. Here too, two right-left chicanes had to be bypassed before the finish line could be crossed.

Racing

The main organizer of the races was the Automobile Club (AMC) Burbach, which hosted the Siegerland Airport Race from 1978 to 2000.

German Touring Car Championship

The most famous race on the track took place on September 8, 1985. The "Siegerland Airport Race" of the German Touring Car Championship was held on this day . Klaus Ludwig , who started from pole position , won the race. Per-Gunnar Andersson drove the fastest race lap . In the race, many time penalties were imposed for missing the harassment .
