The Waldparkring Mingolsheim was a racing track in the Bad Schönborn district of Mingolsheim from 1949 to 1958 .

history

The race track was on the site of a former military depots of the Wehrmacht . In 1948 the citizens came up with the idea of creating a small race track from the well-developed camp road in the forest.

The municipal administration and the tourist office supported the plan of the "Motorsportring Kraichgau" financially. On October 10, 1948, the forest park was inaugurated and handed over with a folk festival . The program at that time included a bike race and a skill drive for motorcycles. Approximately 10,000 people attended the event.

The municipal administration had the track expanded in the spring of 1949 so that it could also meet the requirements placed on an automobile racing track. The lane width was widened to six meters and in the curves to eight meters. In addition, a pit area and a tower for the race management were built.

In 1949 the board of the "Motorsportring" received a racing license from the highest motor sports authority in Hamburg . The “Kraichgauer Waldparkring” motorcycle race was organized annually.

The first official "Kraichgau Motorcycle Race" took place on June 19, 1949.

In the 1950s, other races (special stages) and cycling events followed, such as three international cycling races on the Waldparkring, which were organized from 1949 to 1952 by the Kronau cycling club "Ideal". In addition, training drives took place, which were completely abandoned in 1958 after several serious and fatal accidents. The route has now grown over.
