Changes 2020

The provisional calendar for the 2020 DTM season was published in mid-September 2019. The number of races was to be increased from 18 to 20 on ten race weekends. For the first time since the 1994 season, the season opener is no longer held at the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg , which is also only represented with one event instead of the previous two in the racing calendar. Instead, the runs in Zolder should be the first of the year. Are included in the calendar of new Scandinavian Raceway in Swedish Anderstorp and the Monza Circuit Eni in Italian Monza . The Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli is no longer there . On September 30, 2019, the newly built track was Igora Drive in Russian Saint Petersburg confirmed as the last venue for the 2020th In 2020, for the first time in the history of the racing series, the majority of the races should not take place in Germany . In addition, there should be a summer break for the first time, which should last for six weeks and lie between the races in Nuremberg and Brands Hatch .

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic , a revised racing calendar was published on March 25, 2020. The season opener was therefore planned for July 11th at the Norisring , the end of the season should be the event in Monza on November 15th. The calendar was revised again until June 2020 and now only includes races in Germany and neighboring countries. The season opener should still take place on July 11th and 12th at the Norisring, the end of the season will now be the event in Hockenheim on November 7th and 8th. One day after the announcement of this new racing calendar, the event at the Norisring was canceled.
