technology

In the 2012 to 2018 season, the RS 5 DTM was powered by an uncharged V8 engine with a displacement of 4.0 liters and 340 kW (≈ 460 hp), which can deliver a maximum torque of more than 500  Nm . Since the 2019 season, it has been powered by an in-line 4-cylinder engine with a displacement of 2.0 liters and turbocharging , producing 610 hp (455 kW) and over 650 Nm. Using the push-to-pass function, drivers can call up an additional 30 hp at short notice. The engine drives the rear wheels via a manual transmission with six forward gears. The prototype has a chassis in shell construction ( monocoque ) made of CFRP with an integrated 120 liter fuel tank. All DTM racing cars are based on production vehicles, so the RS 5 DTM looks like an Audi A5 . Like some other vehicle systems, the braking system with ceramic brake discs is the same for all DTM racing cars.

Like the other DTM vehicles, the car has been equipped with a Drag Reduction System (DRS) since the 2013 season .

tires

The tires were supplied exclusively by Hankook Tire . Compared to the 2011 season , the tires have been enlarged. The front tire is 300 mm wide and 680 mm in diameter, the rear tire is 320 mm wide and 710 mm in diameter. The tires have wing elements on the sidewalls for additional downforce. The 18-inch rims (twelve inches wide at the front and thirteen inches at the rear) are also standard components.
