The Audi A5 (internal type designation "8T") is a car model from Audi AG , which was manufactured between 2007 and 2016 at two production sites. While the Coupé and Sportback including their S / RS models rolled off the assembly line in Ingolstadt , the convertible (internal type designation “8F”) was manufactured in all versions at the Neckarsulm plant . The A5 Coupé designed by Walter Maria de Silva was officially presented on March 6, 2007 at the Geneva Motor Show .
history
The A5 is based on the platform of the Audi A4 , but was presented six months before it. It appeared in June 2007 as a coupé (type AU484) to compete against the BMW 3 Series Coupé and the Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class . On December 3, 2008 the A5 and S5 Cabriolet (type AU485) were presented, which celebrated its public premiere at the Detroit Motor Show 2009. It replaces the convertible version of the Audi A4 . The A5 series has also been expanded to include a five-door hatchback variant with the addition of Sportback . This was officially presented at the IAA in September 2009. In 2010, according to the Federal Motor Transport Authority , 23,415 Audi A5 / S5 were newly registered, including 54.6 percent with diesel engines. 65.0 percent of the new registrations were made by commercial owners. Audi has been using the Audi A5 DTM racing car in the DTM since the 2012 season , the body shape of which is based on the A5.

Facelift
In July 2011 Audi presented the revised versions of all body variants, the market launch of which took place on November 5, 2011. Externally, this revised version can be recognized, among other things, by the curved lower edge of the front headlights. Since this facelift , the 3.0 TDI has been offered in the two output levels 150 kW (204 PS) and 180 kW (245 PS), while the 2.7 TDI has been discontinued. The 3.2-liter V6 was also taken out of the range and replaced by a 3.0 TFSI with 200 kW (272 PS) and 400 Nm. The output of the 2.0 TDI has been increased to 130 kW (177 PS) and 380 Nm and is now also available with an automatic transmission. The 2.0 TFSI with 132 kW (179 PS) was omitted from the gasoline engine and the 1.8 TFSI now developed 125 kW (170 PS) instead of 118 kW (160 PS).
