Audi R8

The Audi R8 is a mid-engine - sports cars from Audi , which was presented to the public in September of 2006. The production car is based on the successful Audi R8 Le Mans racing prototype , which was built by Audi for the eponymous 24-hour Le Mans race .

From autumn 2006 to the end of 2014, a total of 26,037 R8s of the first generation were produced, of which 5626 were newly registered in Germany according to the Federal Motor Transport Authority. The second R8 generation has been in production since 2015. The facelift was launched on the market at the beginning of 2019 and at the same time the tenth anniversary of the V10 engine was celebrated with the special Audi R8 Decennium model. The special model is limited to 222 units worldwide and cost € 222,000 in Germany.

At the 2019 Audi Annual General Meeting, CEO Abraham Schot announced that the Audi R8 was to be discontinued as part of a realignment of the vehicle models.
