The C8 (internal type designation 4K or series code F2 in the FIN like the Audi A6 C8 ) is a five-door passenger car with a hatchback produced by Audi AG . The A7 is produced at the Audi plant in Neckarsulm .

Model history

It was presented on October 19, 2017 in the Audi design studio in Ingolstadt , the vehicle was shown publicly for the first time at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) 2018, and the market launch took place at the end of February 2018.

With the A7 55 TFSIe, a plug-in hybrid model was announced at the end of February 2019 , it premiered at the Geneva Motor Show 2019 and it has been available for order since September 2019.

The S7 was presented in April 2019. For the first time it is powered by a diesel engine.

The RS7 model was presented at the IAA 2019.

technology

The modular longitudinal construction kit platform of the A7 C8 uses a mixed steel and aluminum construction. Its body was no longer than that of its predecessor and is now more rigid.

drive

With the launch of the A7 paid by a maximum of 250 kW (340 hp) was six-cylinder - V - gasoline engine available, which in the current Audi A8 is used. Further engines followed shortly after the start of production.

Six cylinder engines obtain a 48-volt vehicle electrical system with the lithium-ion battery , which together with the belt - Starter Generator the MHEV technology ( mild hybrid electric vehicle forms). It causes a barely noticeable restart. In the four-cylinder models, the belt starter generator is designed in 12 V. With the V6 engine, a sailing function is possible between 55 km / h and 160 km / h.

The plug-in hybrid model A7 55 TFSI e has a 2.0 l gasoline engine with a maximum output of 185 kW and a permanent magnet synchronous machine as an electric motor with 105 kW. The system power is 270 kW. The lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 14.1 kWh and can be charged with a maximum of 7.4 kW.

landing gear

The basic version of the A7 has a chassis with steel springs, with air suspension for an extra charge . There is also an optional all-wheel steering , which, in addition to rear-wheel steering by up to 5 ° at low speeds, uses a superposition gear on the front axle. This also reduces the turning circle by 1.1 m. From 60 km / h the rear wheels also steer. The front axle was connected in a more complex way.

Driver assistance systems

The A7 C8 can be equipped with up to 39 driver assistance systems; the information from five cameras and five radar sensors, ultrasonic sensors and a laser scanner are processed in a driver assistance control unit (zFAS).

The infotainment can also be operated via voice control.
