The Audi A6 C8 (internal type designation 4K) is an upper middle class passenger car model from Audi that has been available since 2018. The A6 will continue to be produced at the Audi plant in Neckarsulm . In the VIN the Audi A6 C8 has the series code F2 .
Model history
The sedan was officially presented on February 28, 2018. The vehicle had its formal public premiere at the 88th Geneva Motor Show in March 2018. In mid-April 2018, Audi presented the station wagon version . In January 2019, the long version A6L was presented in Guangzhou.
The S6 was presented in April 2019. For the first time it is powered by a diesel engine.
At the beginning of June 2019, Audi presented the new A6 allroad quattro based on the Avant.
The RS6 Avant was presented in August 2019 . It has a V8 mild hybrid drive train with a maximum output of 441 kW (600 PS). Like the previous model, the RS6 is not available as a sedan. The RS6 is also being marketed in North America for the first time.

Technology and equipment
General
Like the A7 C8 and A8 D5 , the Audi A6 is based on the MLBevo , which was developed by Audi for the VW Group. Compared to its predecessor, it is larger in all dimensions. Contrary to the development of the auto industry to build ever lighter cars, the C8 is around 200 kg heavier than the C7 , which is mainly attributable to the standard mild hybrid drive.
The innovations also include so-called "HD Matrix LED headlights" with glare-free high beam as an option and LED headlights as standard equipment as well as originally the expansion of the driver assistance systems as in the A8 D5, which theoretically enables autonomous driving up to level 3. However, autonomous driving is currently (beginning of 2019) not activated due to a lack of legal regulations. Since the end of 2018, the laser scanner required for autonomous driving can no longer be ordered or has been omitted without replacement in the corresponding Tour assistance system . This eliminates the possibility of activating autonomous driving at level 3 at a later date, including the bottleneck assistant. Another technical innovation is the introduction of all-wheel steering , which reduces the turning circle by one meter to 11.1 m, as the rear wheels are turned by up to 5 °.
Infotainment system
The interior has been given a new operating concept that relies almost exclusively on touchscreens . For this purpose, there is an LC display each in the dashboard and in the center console . The diagonal of the upper screen in the dashboard is 8.8 or 10.1 inches, depending on the equipment, and has a resolution of 1280 × 720 or 1540 × 720 pixels. While the upper screen is used to operate the navigation and infotainment system, the lower 8.6-inch screen (1280 × 660 pixels) in the center console controls vehicle and comfort functions such as air conditioning or seat heating. Both screens are also used in combination with one another, for example to enter the destination address via the lower screen or for an extended display of the air conditioning in the upper screen. Other operating elements such as driving mode settings or rear window heating are implemented via separate mechanical or sensory switches, depending on the equipment. All touchscreens also have haptic feedback. For the first time in the Audi A6, the virtual cockpit is also available as an option . The analog instrument cluster on the driver's side is replaced by a 12.3-inch display with a resolution of 1920 × 720 pixels.
safety
In the crash test carried out by Euro NCAP in 2018 , the vehicle was rated five stars.
Engines
All V6 units have a 48-volt electrical system which, together with the belt starter generator, forms the MHEV technology ( mild hybrid electric vehicle ).
