The Audi A6 C6 is an upper middle class passenger car model from Audi , which was produced from spring 2004 to mid-2011 as the third generation of the Audi A6 .
Model history
General
In April 2004 the Type 4F first appeared as a sedan (formal presentation: Geneva Motor Show 2004). The combination variant Avant (formal presentation: in the Pinakothek der Moderne in autumn 2004) was offered from March 2005. From January to December 2005, 63,621 vehicles were newly registered in Germany. The S6 (formal presentation: NAIAS 2006) and S6 Avant as well as the Allroad Quattro (formal presentation: Geneva Motor Show 2006) were introduced in mid-2006.
In 2010, according to the Federal Motor Transport Authority, 30,079 Audi A6 / S6 were newly registered, 90.9 percent of them with diesel engines. 86.7 percent of the new registrations were made by commercial owners.
Long version
From 2005 there was a long version of the A6 called the A6L in China . It is 96 mm longer (5012 mm) and 26 mm higher (1485 mm) than the normal A6. The wheelbase is 2945 mm. The base price was € 32,826.
Facelift
In autumn 2008 the A6 was revised. Outwardly, it differs from the previous version mainly in the LED daytime running lights housed in the headlights (only in conjunction with xenon headlights ), the modified rear lights with LED technology, enlarged exterior mirrors with integrated indicators and a modified front apron design smaller fog lights and enlarged air intakes. The single-frame grille was designed consistently, the license plate was no longer on a bumper "bar".
In the interior, some details such as the instrument cluster have been redesigned and various inlays with an aluminum look have been added. The optional navigation system has been expanded to include a hard drive and a three-dimensional display of buildings and topographical terrain display has been introduced. The engines were revised and the engine range was supplemented with new engines. To reduce consumption, the body of the A6 was lowered by 2 cm and the two highest gears of the transmission were longer. In addition, the optional tire pressure control system, which had previously operated with inside wheel sensors, was replaced by the control system without internal sensors, which was also used in other models of the VW Group, which no longer shows the air pressure in the individual tires and the respective internal temperature, but only shows greater pressure losses.
Other changes concerned the noise insulation in the interior, the chassis tuning and, among other things, the revision of the 2.7 TDI engine, which then had a maximum output of 140 kW (190 PS) and a maximum of 400 Nm. Despite its increased performance, it used less fuel.
Optional extras
The list of optional extras for the A6 includes items such as adaptive cruise control (ACC), air suspension known as Adaptive Air Suspension and dynamic cornering lights . In addition, the A6 is one of the first cars that are available ex works with a Bluetooth car phone with SIM Access Profile (from production week 34/2006) instead of just a simple Bluetooth hands-free system.
