The Audi R8 LMS ultra is a racing car of the GT3 group based on the Audi R8 . It has been used in various GT racing series around the world since 2012. It is the successor to the Audi R8 LMS released in 2009 .

The Audi R8 LMS ultra consists of an aluminum frame with a screwed steel roll cage. The body parts are either made of CFRP or aluminum.
The carriage is driven by a V10 DOHC - gasoline engine driven with 5.2 liters, which before the rear axle is fitted. The cylinder bank angle is 90 °, the engine has direct injection , dry sump lubrication and two racing catalytic converters. It has an output of up to 419 kW (570 hp), depending on the power rating ( Balance of Performance ), and the maximum torque is more than 500 Newton meters. A sequential, pneumatically shifted six-speed sports transmission with paddle shifters transfers the power to the rear axle, while traction control prevents the wheels from spinning when accelerating. The rack and pinion is provided with a power assistance provided.
All wheels are individually suspended on double wishbones and both axles have adjustable stabilizers . The coil springs come from Eibach , the adjustable shock absorbers from Bilstein . All four brake discs are made of metal, the car is also equipped with a specially developed racing anti-lock braking system. The 18-inch wheels are forged from aluminum. They are 12 inches wide on the front axle and 13 inches wide on the rear axle.

The Audi R8 LMS ultra is used nationally in the ADAC GT Masters , the VLN endurance championship Nürburgring and the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring . Internationally, teams compete with the vehicle in the Blancpain Sprint Series , the Blancpain Endurance Series and the United SportsCar Championship, among others .
Nürburgring 24-hour race 2012
The Audi R8 LMS ultra was used for the first time in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring in 2012 by Teams Team Phoenix , Mamerow Racing , Audi race experience , Speedhunters.com Team WRT and Raeder Motorsport . The Phoenix team was able to achieve overall victory with the car, the Mamerow Racing car was in second place at the end of the race.
