The Audi Q3 Sportback is a crossover SUV from the German car manufacturer Audi . The vehicle based on the Audi Q3 F3 went on sale in autumn 2019.
history
The vehicle was presented on July 24, 2019. It had its trade fair premiere in September 2019 at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt am Main . The first models were delivered in autumn 2019. Like the Q3 F3, the SUV is produced in Győr at Audi Hungaria . The Edition One special model will also be available for the market launch .
The RS Q3 Sportback, the top model of the series, has also been on the market since October 2019 .
In contrast to the Q8 , also known as the “SUV Coupé”, the Q3 Sportback does not use nomenclature with even numbers. Battery-electric sport utility vehicles are to be marketed as Q4 and Q6 in the future. Audi presented the Q4 e-tron concept at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2019 .
With the BMW X4 and Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé, the manufacturers BMW and Daimler have been offering sport utility vehicles with a flatter roof in this segment for several years. Compared to a normal SUV, the emotional benefit is in the foreground for the customer, which is why these models can be sold at a higher price. A major contribution to the development of this vehicle class is in the People's Republic of China , where customers prefer an expressive and dominant design style to demonstrate their individual social advancement.
technology
The crossover SUV is based on the modular transverse matrix of the Volkswagen Group on. Compared to the Q3 F3, the Q3 Sportback is slightly longer and has a flat tapering roof, but uses the same technology. As the first of the models based on the MQB modular system, the Q3 Sportback uses mild hybrid technology with a 48-volt electrical system .
The trunk volume of 530 liters corresponds exactly to that of the Q3 F3. With the rear seat folded down, it sinks by 100 to 1,400 liters compared to the Q3 F3.
Technical specifications
At the market launch, the vehicle was available with a turbocharged two-liter gasoline engine of the type VW EA888 with direct gasoline injection and 169 kW (230 PS) or a charged two-liter diesel engine of the type VW EA288 evo with common rail injection and 110 kW (150 PS). Gasoline engines with lower maximum output followed later, followed by a diesel engine with higher maximum output. In addition, the 294 kW (400 PS) RS Q3 with a 2.5-liter five-cylinder gasoline engine has been available since October 2019.
