The VW EA288 evo (EA = development order) is a diesel engine series from Volkswagen AG with four cylinders. The EA288 evo was presented at the 39th International Vienna Motor Symposium 2018 in Vienna. The engine generation will be used in various vehicles of the Volkswagen Group from 2020. The engine will be available in a mild hybrid version with a belt starter.
