Abraham Schot

Abraham "Bram" Schot [ brɑm sxɔːt ] (born July 12, 1961 in Rotterdam ) is a Dutch manager. From September 2017 to March 2020 he was on the Board of Management of Audi AG .

Life

Schot began his professional career in 1982 with the truck manufacturer DAF Trucks Netherlands . In 1986 he completed the management trainee program at ABN AMRO , a Dutch bank.

In 1987 Schot switched to Mercedes-Benz Netherlands. There he performed various tasks in the commercial vehicles sector, such as assistant sales manager, head of corporate strategy & planning and marketing director commercial vehicles. In January 1998 he was appointed Managing Director of the Mercedes Car Group at DaimlerChrysler Netherlands, and in January 2003 he was appointed President & CEO of DaimlerChrysler Netherlands. Between 2006 and 2011 he was President & CEO DaimlerChrysler / Mercedes-Benz Italy.

In January 2011, the Dutchman moved to Volkswagen AG , where he was initially responsible for strategic projects in the group sales department. In 2012 he took over the Marketing and Sales department on the Board of Management of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles . This was followed by a move to the Board of Management of Audi AG in September 2017 , where he was responsible for marketing and sales. In April 2018, Schot also took over the chairmanship.After the arrest of Rupert Stadler , he was appointed acting chairman of the board on June 19, 2018 . At the same time, by resolution of the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG, he became a permanent guest at the meetings of the VW Group Management Board.

In December 2018, the Supervisory Board of Audi AG appointed Schot as Chairman of the Board of Management until 2021 with effect from January 1, 2019. At the same time, until July 2019, he temporarily continued the marketing and sales department until Hildegard Wortmann joined the company. Also in December 2018, the Volkswagen AG Supervisory Board appointed him to the Group Board of Management, responsible for Group Sales.

He left Audi on April 1, 2020. Markus Duesmann succeeded him as Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi AG . Herbert Diess took over the tasks as VW group board member for sales, in addition to the tasks as chairman of the board . Schot also resigned from the supervisory board of Porsche Holding and the executive board of Ducati Motor Holding on April 1 .

education

Schot studied from 1991 to 1993 at the University of Bradford and graduated with a Master of Business Administration . He also completed other postgraduate studies , such as Strategic Management at Harvard Business School , Managing Global Opportunities at Wharton School and the International Executive Program of INSEAD in Fontainebleau .
