The Audi R8 LMS is a racing car of the GT3 group that was developed on the basis of the second generation Audi R8 . Sales began in September 2015. The car is the successor to the Audi R8 LMS ultra that was released in 2012 .

technology

The self-supporting body , known as the Audi Space Frame (ASF), is made of aluminum- CFRP hybrid construction with a supporting steel roll cage . The body parts are made of CFRP and aluminum. The car has a 430 kW / 585 hp 5.2-liter V10 engine with a 90-degree cylinder bank angle and four valves per cylinder. Further features are an OHC valve control and gasoline direct injection . The exhaust gas is cleaned by two exhaust gas racing catalysts . The force is transmitted through a sequential, pneumatically actuated 6-speed sports transmission with paddle shift transmitted. The Audi R8 LMS has independent wheel suspensions with double wishbones and struts with coil springs, adjustable shock absorbers and adjustable stabilizers at the front and rear.
