Christopher Mies (born May 24, 1989 in Heiligenhaus ) is a German racing car driver .

Career

Christopher Mies began his motorsport career in karting in 2001 and achieved various championship successes. During this time he was sponsored by his father Peter Mies , who is himself a hobby racing driver. In 2006 he got into touring car racing . He started in the Toyota Yaris Cup and finished twelfth in the overall standings. In 2007 he moved to the Leipert Motorsport team in the Ford Fiesta ST Cup . Mies scored two race victories and finished fifth in the drivers' championship. In 2008 he drove the Ford Fiesta ST from Leipert Motorsport in Division 2 of the ADAC Procar series . He won six races and was the overall winner of his division. This paved the way for Mies into professional motorsport.

For the 2009 season, Mies received a cockpit from Phoenix Racing in the FIA GT3 European Championship , in which he took turns with his team mate Christopher Haase at the wheel of an Audi R8 LMS . The two finished three races victorious and became European champions. In addition, Mies denied in the Porsche 997 GT3 Cup of Uwe Alzen in 2009 for the first time the 24-hour race at the Nurburgring . With his teammates Alzen, Sascha Bert and Lance David Arnold , he reached fourth place overall. In the second half of the season, Mies also completed a few races in the ADAC GT Masters and was most recently at the side of the eventual overall winner Christian Abt when Mies stepped in for his team-mate Jan Seyffarth, who was paused due to injury .

In the 2010 season , Mies will start in the Audi R8 LMS from Abt Sportsline as a regular driver in the ADAC GT Masters. He scored two race wins with his regular teammate Luca Ludwig and one at the season finale with Jens Klingmann , when Ludwig was put in another vehicle to increase the championship chances for Abt. At the end of the season, Mies took second place in the drivers' championship.

At the beginning of the 2011 season, Christopher Mies went to Australia for the first time. There he was able to achieve first place with his teammates Marc Basseng and Darryl O'Young at his first start in the Bathurst 12-hour race . In addition to his third place in the driver standings in the ADAC GT Masters with Abt Sportsline , he also won a run in the VLN Endurance Championship (10th run) for the first time with Marc Basseng and Michael Ammermüller for the Phoenix team .

In 2012, together with his team-mates Christer Jöns and Darryl O'Young , he repeated last year's victory at the Bathurst 12-hour race. He also played a full season in the Blancpain Endurance Series . As a regular driver for the Audi W Racing Team , he won his first international title since 2009 together with his teammates Stéphane Ortelli and Christopher Haase in the season finale.
